Established in 1963, JB company is part of the family-owned Basan group. JB manu¬factures food products (biscuits, wafers, snacks, etc.) mainly distributed on the local market but also exported to COMESA, COI and SADC zones.

Using its long experience in the agroindustry sector and its know-how regarding production, sales and logistics, JB ambitions to fight against malnutrition with a sustainable approach. Hence the decision to join the PlumpyField® network, to manufacture Plumpy®-type products. For this activity, JB specially created a new brand: TANJAKA Food.

In Madagascar, half of the less than 5 years old children suffer from malnutrition. Our objective is to make these efficient nutritional solutions accessible in the island and in the neighbouring countries. In addition to sales to public health sector and NGO’s, JB will also soon distribute nutritional supplements directly to the poorest households. Adapting techniques derived from social marketing experiences, this project aims to prevent malnutrition in young children.
